As if 2016 couldn’t get any worse, Russian TV channel Zvezda last week gave a chilling announcement.
The channel, which is run and funded by the Russian Ministry of Defence, told their viewers that a nuclear attack on the West could be coming very soon and said, “Schizophrenics from America are sharpening nuclear weapons for Moscow.”
Having already built underground bunkers that can house an astounding 12 million people, it’s said that over the weekend, evacuation drills had been taking place across the country.
The drills involved over 40 million civilians and 200,000 emergency personnel. Frightening scenes showed ballistic missiles being tested.
The Russian Ministry of Defence said in a statement, “The drill will rehearse radiation, chemical and biological protection of the personnel and population during emergencies at crucial and potentially dangerous facilities.”
Tensions between Russia and the West have peaked over the last few weeks due to the US accusing Russia of aiding Syria and launching airstrikes on the city of Aleppo, which left thousands of its citizens dead.
Russia has warned that the US would face “terrible, tectonic” consequences if it took military action against the Syrian regime.
