ENNY discusses new Jordan collaboration, the importance of community & more

Jordan is one of the most aspirational brands out there. Jordan’s new line is imbued with the stylistic ethos that adorned many of the greats. So much so that it’s pulled greats from other spheres into its orbit, with the latest collection featuring none other than South London’s finest, ENNY. ENNY shows off the new range perfectly, which stands out with vibrant, expressive colourways, and a healthy dose of nostalgia.

Aside from the obvious draw of the eye-catching new range, Jordan is a brand that is much more than just high-quality garments. Anyone who puts on the shorts, trainers or T shirts, is becoming a part of one of the greatest sporting legacies in history. It’s little wonder then that it’s attracted such future greats like ENNY; we chopped it up with ENNY to get a better understanding of what Jordan means to her, the importance of self belief and much more.

What do you attribute your own level of self belief to?

Belief in God, and having faith in the talent that God has given me. It’s a lot to do with belief and purpose. When there’s nothing else your good at, but you know you’re good at that particular thing, and there’s been signs throughout your life that this is your direction, I think that’s the only thing that you can do. Life will lead you to it even if you don’t want it to.

How do you avoid letting outside influences effect this?

I think its natural to be thrown off course, and I used to read bare self help quotes, and one that stuck out to me was “I’d rather try and fail, than to never have tried at all” – and I think just theoretically and practically it makes so much sense.

You were fortunate enough to see success with the release of your second tune “Peng Black Girls” – What has been the best thing about finding success so early on?

I don’t think it’s the best thing, but I think it’s sick that it has allowed many opportunities to open up.

On the flip side, has there been any pitfalls about finding success so early on in your career?

I just think it can be intense. I think the intensity of it can be a lot, and you just kind of have to find your footing and find where you exist in this whole different realm of what you’re doing. Cause it starts of being a dream, and to be actually living in it can be overwhelming.

What other artists are you looking forward to collaborating with and why?

I think I’m open to whatever, as long as its sick and it makes sense for the art I’ll do whatever.

How important is it that your community is represented in your music?

I think its very important to me, cause I think its just a reflection of my reality.

What was it about the two brands that spoke to you in a way that made you think that this campaign was right for you?

I think Jordan is a cultural reference of the time, so it’s sick to be associated with something that you’ve seen and that reminds you of your dream. Like you’ve been watching Micheal Jordan’s documentary, and you’ve been watching the grind, and all the meaning behind it and even the logo reminds you that you can reach for anything.
