A new update for Red Dead Redemption 2’s online multiplayer mode has been announced. The next big expansion for PS4 and Xbox One was confirmed for this week, revealing lots of new content for players.
Some gaming fans believe that the updates are a part of the game’s marketing plan; once people get bored of the game, they add another update full of new content to draw customers back in. Rockstar Games follow a similar pattern with GTA Online, layering in new content and activities periodically.
The update introduces a new in-game event, Fool’s Gold in Free Roam. The event spawns a suit of golden armour, which can be worn and wearing the armour whilst killing players gets you points towards winning Fool’s Gold. If you’re not wearing the armour, you must track down and kill the person who is in order to claim it for yourself.
Joining Fool’s Gold, new competitive fishing challenges will make up the new update as well as three new showdown modes – Up in Smoke, Spoils of War, and Plunder.
The start of the update is due on February the 26th and new weapons, cosmetic items, clothing and daily challenges will all be live before the end of March.
