The record-breaking athlete revealed his plan to kickstart his career in football after he took to Twitter in February to state “I’ve signed for a football team” and now he has joined the Central Coast Mariners for an “indefinite training period”. After joining the A-league club, Bolt was greeted by Mariners fans as he arrived in Sydney on Saturday for training. It is said that the club hopes to turn Bolt into A-league material in just three months, and believe that the gold Olympic champion is genuine about his transition from athletics to football. Mark Leadbeatter, Chairman of the Mariners’ official supporters’ group, made an extensive journey to witness bolt in action. Speaking of the announcement, Leadbetter said “I was certainly interested when I first heard the news. It’s out of the box and the more I’ve heard about it, the more I’ve come to embrace it”. Upon landing, where he was greeted by a large media pack and a group of diehard fans, Bolt said “I’ve said all along this is for real and I’m here to show what I can do “I know what I’m capable of and I know what I can do, so this is the opportunity.” Be sure to stay tuned to GRM to find out more.
