Destiny Love addresses the criticism of SlutWalking and touches on modern day feminism and why she doesn’t identify herself as a “feminist” on exclusive Viceland documentary.
Despite SlutWalks being popular all over the world as a form of activism with various feminist groups, the world went crazy as Amber Rose prepared to showcase her very own slutwalk after an officer of law stated, “Women shouldn’t dress like ‘sluts’ if they don’t want to be sexually assaulted.”
Love further explains how the movement goes beyond women walking around in their underwear, commenting, “It’s more about not feeling like you (men) deserve our bodies, and if we were to walk around in our underwear. A lot of the time women are not walking around in their underwear, they’ll wear skirts which are just above their knees and because it’s above their knee or showing a little thigh men, cannot control themselves. It’s a statement.”
She further went on to explain how classist the feminist world is. Love comments, “I don’t call myself a feminist. i agree with some of the things they say, but there’s a lot of holes that are excluded out of “Feminism”. Feminism is very classist she says. Love believes that “society has this stereotype of what a woman is, and if you are not that kind of woman you labeled as a ‘hoe'”. Destiny Love closes the video by encourage all women to be “confident hoes”.
