Marketed as the “world’s first smart condom”, the i.Con smart condom measures and tracks how good you are in bed, before uploading your data anonymously to the world so you can compare it to others.

Okay, so the condom is actually more of an adjustable ring which fits over a normal condom meaning it doesn’t actually protect against pregnancy. What it does do however, is measure details including the number and speed of thrusts, how long your sex lasts and what positions you’re doing.

It also measures girth, calories burned and how often you’re beating, giving you a very full detailed insight into the workings of what’s in your pants. The condom also has health benefits with its ability to detect STIs like chlamydia and syphilis.

Adam Leverson, lead engineer on the i.Con project, said: “Not only have we innovated the world’s first smart condom ring – that’ll measure pretty much every aspect of performance in the bedroom – but now I’m pleased to confirm that it will also have built-in indicators to alert the users to any potential STIs present.”

Aaron Slater, spokesperson for British Condoms, added: “We knew we were on the cusp of creating something special with i.Con, and bringing a new meaning to ‘wearable tech’ – but being advocates of safe sex, we wanted something more, and the addition of an STI indicator has certainly done that.”

The condom is finally in its final stages of testing and will be released in January next year.
