Last week, JME featured in a rare interview that was featured on Pokemon’s own YouTube channel. The popular franchise is celebrating its 20th anniversary and has enlisted several high-profile fans to spread the word.

It’s no secret though that JME is a huge fan of the series – having conducted trades last year for rare and shiny Charizard cards, reaching out to his fans on twitter and offering shiny gold vinyl copies of his acclaimed recent ‘Integrity>’ album in exchange for the cult-craven cards.

In the interview, the BBK pioneer explained that the shiny Charizard card was the one trading card that eluded him in his childhood. He now has a rare collection of the cards that he’s framed and intends to put up in his own studio, to help him spit fire on the mic. If you ask me, that’s a great idea. Everybody knows Charizard would hold his own at 140 bpm. No questions asked.

As a bit of a Pokemon nerd myself, I thought it would be worth noting that Pokemon are planning a big celebration this year, having announced Pokemon Sun and Moon, the newest generation of games to hit Nintendo consoles, as well as a augmented reality Pokemon game that sparked an internet frenzy after the trailer surfaced last year.

Watch this space, I’ll be sure to keep all you grime-heads up to date with the latest news from the regions of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova and Kalos.
