Transgender model Munroe Bergdorf has recently come under fire after claims she posted “racist” comments online.
Bergdorf, once named the “face of modern diversity” after being the first trans model to appear in a L’Oreal campaign, was recently fired for Facebook comments she made about racism and white privilege following the Charlottesville violence.
After the drama she appeared on Victoria Derbyshire’s BBC Two show, stating that her comments had been taken out of content but still defended them, saying, “all white people benefit from racism.” As expected, people are not impressed.
But, Clara Amfo, who appears in the same L’Oreal campaign as Bergdorf, expressed her support, writing, “A trans woman of colour who @lorealmakeup hired to sell make up because of who she is. Who she is, a woman who wrote a nuanced post on institutional racism and white supremacy in relation to Charlottesville and how the foundations of those heinous ideals trickle into every facet of our society.”
