What distinguishes a good artist from a great artist is their ability to perform live without any compromise to their sound, and Bugzy Malone, renowned for his cold freestyles, has delivered perhaps the best of them all with his latest live session.
Enlisting the help of the soulful queen Shola Ama and a live band, they perform their track “Dan” on BBC 1Xtra, which is an emotional rendition of Eminem’s classic “Stan” but from the perspective of Bugzy Malone and a fan of his own.
Many artists would not be able to do justice with their own version of one of the greatest and well written hip hop tracks of all time, yet Bugzy Malone has certainly done just that. He depicts the realities of the life of “Dan” who is trapped in a cycle of the streets, relationships and other hardships of life.
