At Big J’s Street Food clash this weekend, the UK’s top street food vendors will battle for the title of “Best New Street Food”, but the tension will be accompanied by some of London’s top urban DJs will be playing throughout the day and clashing head to head.

Ahead of the event we thought you’d like to get to know one of the most sought-after DJs in the game who’s playing during the cook out, Fiona Hall.

Specialising in Hip Hop and RnB, Bashment, Trap, Grime and Commercial music, she’s DJ’d at top London venues including Cirque Le Soir, Rah Rah Rooms, Dirty Martini and Gilgamesh. Fiona is also a resident DJ at Missguided Westfield store, Tramp Members-Only Nightclub, Boxpark, Supa Dupa Fly and Showdown: The Silent Disco Face-Off. She’s also worked with clients like movies The Intent and The Weekend, and Nizz Cosmetics.

We caught up with her briefly ahead of the clash.

Are you excited for the street food clash?

“I am so excited I literally cannot wait. I’m the biggest food fan and seeing pictures of all of the applicants’ food has got my mouth watering!”

How do you think the DJ clashes will go? Have you done anything competitive before?

“I have done a couple of clashes and I always enjoy them. I’m a very competitive person and I hate losing so I get really passionate. I’m actually hosting the DJ clash on Sunday so it will be nice to be on the other side of the decks for once!”

What’s your favourite country you’ve performed in?

“Jamaica. By far! It’s my favourite place to visit in general so being booked to DJ there was dope. They love music and the vibe is always crazy so it’s definitely my favourite so far. I’m playing in Dubai later this year so who knows, that might all change!”

Throughout the last year Fiona has performed at a number of international events including Britjam, Dam Cruise 5, Turkey Weekender, Amsterdam Weekender and HFM Germany, and is set to play internationally throughout Europe, the Caribbean, Cancun and Dubai this year.

Fiona has shared the stage with artists including Tony Matterhorn, Cadet, Youngs Teflon, Ms Banks and Big Zeeks, and has interviewed rappers Dave and Cadet and actors Arnold Oceng and Robbie Gee. The Cook Out will see her in a bit of a different setting, but she’s sure to smash it.
