Getty, one of the biggest photo agencies in the world, has vowed to make its stock imagery more diverse.

It’s a running joke that stock images feature predominantly white models, however rooted in the joke is the truth that there just aren’t faces of colour in many aspects of our advertising and media campaigns.

Now, Dazed 100 photographer Campbell Addy is making steps to change that. He’s teamed up with Getty to add a pop of colour, diversity and alternative lifestyle to the stock image world. He’s submitted 42 portraits all entitled “Portrait of young person holding ambiguous gaze”. The models were all selected from Addy’s modeling agency Niiagency.

Speaking to Dazed about his vision last year, Addy said, “When I think of diversity and what I want it to mean, it’s not just race, but also shape, size, able-bodied, disabled, age, looks.”
