Over the years, we’ve seen a number of shocking own goals in football, but a Swiss defender recently scored what is arguably the greatest own goal of all time!
The own goal occurred in a game between Swiss teams Pully Football and FC Renens. In the clip which is making waves online, we see one of Pully Football’s defenders, Adrien Gulfo, attempt to clear a cross being delivered into the penalty area.
However, Gulfo attempts to spice up his defensive efforts by performing a bicycle kick, which results in the player accidentally booting the ball into his own net. Despite his major slip-up, Pully Football went on to beat FC Renen’s 4-3 on penalties.
