Facebook have revealed their mad new tactic to keep fans engaged on the social media platform. Mind reading technology.
Yep, you read correctly. At the Facebook annual developer conference on Wednesday, Regina Dugan, head of Facebook’s experimental technologies devision ‘Building 8’ announced Facebook were working on “optical neuro-imaging systems” which would let people type words directly from their mind.
60 engineers have been working in the secretive Building 8 to to create a brain-computer speech-to-text interface which Dugan suggested will make communication on Facebook less invasive.
How will it work you ask? Instead of implants being surgically put into the users’ brains, Facebook intends on creating wearable sensors that can measure ones brain activity, decoding brain signals with language in real time.
Dugan added, “It sounds impossible but it’s closer than you think”.
Terrifying or genius? We’re undecided…
