If you thought that Steve Harvey’s frankly hilarious blunder at Miss Universe was bad, then you need only feast your eyes on best picture award debacle from last night’s Oscars.

In a series of unfortunate events, Warren Beatty (who was announcing the winner) was reportedly handed the wrong envelope. Prior to him reading out the winner he did seem rather bemused by what was written,as the film La La Land was read out by his co-presenter Faye Dunaway.

It has now transpired that Beatty may have been given a duplicate envelope containing the winner for Best Actress which had already been picked up by Emma Stone. This would explain the puzzled/concerned look on Beatty’s face before the erroneous announcement.

Despite being interrupted mid acceptance speech, the cast and crew of La La Land were gracious in defeat and dealt with the mistake tactfully.

Director Barry Jenkins, of the real winner Moonlight, commented saying, “We have been on the road with these guys and it was so gracious and so generous of them.”

Emma Stone said that was amazing to hear that La La Land had won the best picture Oscar but she said was excited for Moonlight as its “one of the best films of all time.”

Well this is embarrassing
