Jamaican-born dancehall artist Lisa Mercedez shows us her journey with religion in new track “Shahada” which refers to the Islamic declaration of faith.
The track sees Lisa teaming up with Persian vocalist Shy for this atmospheric track. Switching up her original sound, Lisa expresses her recent reversion to Islam, which highlights her personal and artistic growth as she expresses her journey throughout the music video. Filmed in a desert in Dubai, Lisa’s addictive verses and Shy’s beautiful lyrics take centre stage.
Her distinctive Jamaican flair has resulted in collaborations with Stefflon Don, Stylo G, Ms Banks, DJ SKT and Preditah in the past, as well as being personally chosen to support Nicki Minaj on tour.
