Universal Music UK have now launched a new label named 0207 Def Jam.

0207 Def Jam will be a new frontline label and the UK home of the groundbreaking Def Jam label – which has continued to take hip-hop culture to new heights for over 35 years.

Twin brothers Alec and Alex Boateng will take the helms as Co-Presidents of the label, where they will be joined by Amy Tettey as Managing Director, Jacqueline Eyewe as Marketing Director and Char Grant as A&R Director.

Alex’s Co-President role comes after spending 10 years as Universal Music UK, most recently as president of Island Records which has played an integral part in the growth of Black music in the UK. Alec joins 0207 Def Jam after seven years at Warner Music where he worked with a number of huge acts such as Stormzy, Burna Boy, WSTRN and more.

Amy Tettey has previously worked as a Finance Director at the Universal Music label, while Jacqueline Eyewe has experience as a Senior Marketing Manager at Atlantic and Char Grant has enjoyed a 10-year career in artist development and management.

“Music, art and artists really, really matter,” Alec Boateng said.

“I’m super excited to play a leadership role in this brilliant new space we’re creating for amazing music and talent to live and evolve. A space which will support both our teams and our artists to be the best version of themselves.”

Alex Boateng added: “Especially in these times, this is a real
privilege. I’m proud our collective journey now includes partnering a legendary label with a style that only London and the UK can provide. Looking forward to watching and guiding where the music and art takes the journey next.”
