At the Globe Soccer Awards in the Player of the Century vote, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah came out on top in the polls.
Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo was crowned Player of the Century at the gala awards night in Dubai over the weekend after winning 34% of the votes. He won the award after beating Barcelona’s Lionel Messi who claimed the Number 2 spot in the polls with 24% of the votes.
Liverpool’s Mo Salah just missed out on second place, coming in at Number 3 with 23% of votes. He also beat Brazilian legend Ronaldinho who came in fourth with 14% of the votes.
Speaking on being crowned the Player of the Century, Cristiano Ronaldo said “It is an exceptional achievement. It gives me the motivation to move forward,” adding that he hopes to “play for more years.”
Other winners at the Globe Soccer Awards include Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola who won the Coach of the Century Award, and Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski who won the Player of the Year award.
