Tottenham Hotspurs have offered their £1 billion stadium to the NHS as a venue to speed up the rollout of the coronavirus vaccine.
Last month, Premier League clubs said they would operate as potential hubs to administer the injections and Tottenham have stepped up first.
During the first lockdown, the football club’s dressing rooms, interview rooms and media cafe were used as an outpatient’s unit for North Middlesex Hospital as an antenatal centre.
The underground car park at the stadium in north London has also been used for coronavirus testing.
The Football Association (FA) reportedly offered Wembley Stadium to the NHS for vaccine rollouts but it hasn’t been revealed whether the 90,000 seater arena has been approved for use.
To meet their target of vaccinating 13.5 million people in 6 weeks time, the government must speed up its rollout of the jab and having stadiums as hubs would be a big help to the process.
