Coronavirus: UK Nightclubs Could Become Vaccination Hubs

We all miss going for a night out but we could be returning to nightclubs very soon – to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

Campaign group #SaveTheNight clubs – a coalition of 150 clubs and thousands of staff who have been lobbying on behalf of the sector since the first lockdown – have offered to open their doors as vaccination centres.

Tweeting Health Secretary Matt Hancock and and Minister For Business & Industry Nadhim Zahawi, the group said: “We would like to offer our closed venues and unemployed staff to help with a quick roll out of the vaccine. For FREE.

“We have waiting areas, huge refrigerators, separate rooms for vaccinations, and an amazing team that can help organise.”

Having been shut since the first lockdown in March last year, the UK nightlife industry – which usally generates £3 billion a year – is one of the worst affected sectors by the pandemic. By the time the UK’s current national lockdown ends, nightclubs up and down the country will have been shut for a year.

While re-opening nightclubs as vaccination hubs may not be the return we’d all like, it would help with the vaccination rollout which could get us raving again sooner.

The government are yet to respond to #SaveNightClubs’ offer.
