US election season is well and truly amongst us. Later this year Americans will vote for the 47th President of the United States, and one person who seems set to be a major antagnoist (or protagonist depending on your creed) is Donald Trump. Donald Trump has long been subject to references in rap song, ranging from Mac Miller’s delirious celebration of money and the high life in “Donald Trump” to YG’s political anthem disparaging his character on “F*** Donald Trump”.
A92’s lip service is perhaps not unique in it’s inspiration then, but this is less of a song centred around the politician and more of one which includes a singular line about him. Rapping “the plug just called and he’s stuck in the White House, I feel like Trump”, it’s a playful nod to the former president and nothing more; the focus of this song is more so giving AO and Nikz a platform to demonstrate their rapping prowess. Combining intricate flows with clever bars, it’s a reminder of the talent density within A92 and their ability to quite simply, make good drill music.
Be sure to check out “Trump” above and keep it locked on GRM Daily for further A92 music.
