British actor Sir Christopher Lee has passed away at age 93. He is most well known for playing Dracula in the 1950s classic, as well as Saurman the White in Lord of the Rings and Count Dooku in Star Wars.

He passed away early on Sunday morning after being hospitalised for respiratory problems, with his wife releasing the news today in order to ensure family members were aware first.

Lee also released a series of heavy metal albums, was knighted in 2009 for services to drama and charity and was awarded the BAFTA fellowship in 2011.

Lee still has a film yet to be released, ‘Angels in Notting Hill’, in which he plays a godly figure who looks after the universe.

Our condolences go out to his family and friends, some of whom left tributes to Sir Christopher on Twitter earlier today.
