Former Manchester City and Sunderland footballer Adam Johnson has been released from prison after serving just three years of his six year sentence.

The former football player was charged with child sex offences back in 2016, after he groomed and engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

However, he was released from HMP Moorland just halfway through his sentence, and has returned to his £2million mansion in County Durham.

It is not confirmed whether he will return to his £60,000-a-week football career, but it is currently looking extremely unlikely.
