Akala has clearly got a good head on his shoulders. While his music still shines, the Kentish Town-born artist has become just as renowned for his political, social and cultural views too.
He recently did an address and Q&A session at Oxford Union, one of the world’s most prestigious debating societies. He stood up to the magnitude of the venue, delivering some serious insight into topics such as cultural appropriation, perceptions of Africa and a lot more.
Articulate as always, it’s great to see a figurehead like Akala representing the culture at these types of places. Big up him and check out the full talk above.
Extra Akala info:
Akala is no stranger to the debate scene. Watch him tear apart former EDL leader Tommy Robinson in this clip here.
Don’t sleep on his music either. Listen to his latest single and accompanying video “Mr Fire In The Booth” now on this link, taken from his album ‘Knowledge Is Power 2’.
He also recently joined Haze on his track “Problems” alongside Black The Ripper (which you can check out here) and also blessed Radio 1Xtra’s MC Month (check that right here).
