Amazon has closed a deal which will allow them to broadcast some Champions League games in the UK from 2024, according to reports.

The Athletic have reported that Amazon have struck a ground-breaking deal which will see them showing a number of games from UEFA club competitions – such as the Champions League, Europa League and the Europa Conference League – during the 2024-27 cycle.

In 2015, BT Sport beat the likes of Sky Sports and ITV to win exclusive rights to broadcast games from Europe’s top competition, paying £1.2 billion in a deal that runs until the end of the 2023/24 season.

With Amazon now joining in on the action, BT Sport will retain the majority of the rights and will show more games than previously due to the number of matches played in those competitions increasing under new formats.

Amazon and BT declined to comment on the reports of a new deal when approached by The Athletic.
