American Football player Mark Ingram claims he was denied entry at London nightclub because staff considered him to be “too urban”.

The running back for New Orlean’s Saints was enjoying his time in London with his teammates, but revealed in a string of tweets he had been turned away at Cirque le Soir for an ignorant reason:

GRM Daily

Cirque le Soir Facebook description of their entrance policy reads, “As an exclusive members club, we cannot guarantee entry to anyone and full discretion always lies with the door.”

“We particularly discourage casual dress code, intoxicated customers and male heavy entourages.”

The club sent a statements to BBC Newsbeat stating:, “We proudly celebrate diversity, not only as part of our shows, but as part of who we are.

“We would not dismiss anyone as ‘too urban’ and we would not turn anyone away on the basis of their ethnicity, sexuality or any other characteristic – other than those expressed in our door policy.

We would be very happy to welcome Mark Ingram and his friends – male and female – when they are next in town.”

D
espite the majorly racist denial of entry, Ingram said in a tweet, “Everyone in England has been amazing so far!!! This was our first encounter entire trip! I <3 England! .”
