Apple’s AirPods are undoubtedly one of the most popular earphones at the moment and now we could be treated to a new over-ear version.
Rumours of the updated AirPods began to circulate after a product listing of American superstore, Target, leaked online showing ‘Apple AirPods (X Generation) priced at $399.99.
YouTuber Jon Presser tweeted the link, accompanied by the caption: “Multiple Target employees have started reaching out to me about this. Showing up in their systems and on UPC scanners is this mysterious “Apple AirPods (X Generation)” listing, priced at $399.
“Potentially Apple’s over-ear ‘StudioPods’ headphones. Launch soon (March)?”
Pressed also added 3 skews of the product were listed, suggesting the upcoming AirPod X could come in three colour-ways.
The price of the upcoming AirPods is similar to that of some of the most popular over-ear headphones, including Bose’s noise-cancelling pair and Sennheiser’s Momentum Wireless.
The reported AirPod X would be the first pair of over-ear headphones to be sold under the Apple brand name, but the company has previously sold other over-ear headphones under its Beats brand.
