Tech giant Apple failed spectacularly after asking a customer to prove he wasn’t dictator Saddam Hussein.
Reports claim father of two, Sharakat Hussain, was baffled when he received an email claiming that he was on the Government’s Denied Parties list making it illegal for him to be sold an iPhone.
Hussain had bought the phone for his sister and had returned it after she did not want the gift. Apple had agreed to refund him via bank transfer, but after a few weeks with no refund, he received the email asking him to prove he was not the Iraqi Dictator.
To make matters worse, the dictator’s surname is spelt with an ‘e’ as in Hussein, whereas this Apple customer’s name is spelt with an ‘a’. Oh, and Saddam Hussein has been dead since 2016.
Slow clap for the Apple team.
