Others listening into your conversations or watching you through your phone’s camera is many of our worst nightmares when it comes to technology. A nightmare which Apple accidentally made come true.
Recently discovered, Apple’s group FaceTime feature allowed users to listen into the people they were calling’s microphones when the receiver didn’t pick up the call.
To make things worse, when the receiver pressed the lock button on their phone (usually used to silence or ignore an incoming call) the iPhone would broadcast the video to the caller as if they’d answered.
To make matters even more embarrassing for the company, earlier this month they ran a 13-floor billboard in Las Vegas stating, “What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone” during the Consumer Electronics Show.
Apple has said they are aware of the problem and are due to release a software update later in the week. For now, the group FaceTime function is currently unavailable.
