Apple have finally announced the release of their highly-anticipated second generation AirPods.
The news was broken on Twitter by Apple’s very own CEO, Tim Cook, who uploaded a photo of himself drawing the AirPods on the forthcoming iPad.
The new headphones will feature wireless charging, 50 percent longer talk time and hands-free Siri access, allowing users to switch songs, make phone calls, adjust the volume and ask for directions by uttering the words “Hey Siri”.
Speaking on the release of the new wireless earphones, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said: “The world’s best wireless headphones just got even better with the new AirPods.
“They are powered by the new Apple-designed H1 chip which brings an extra hour of talk time, faster connections, hands-free ‘Hey Siri’ and the convenience of a new wireless battery case”.
Customers will have the option to buy the AirPods with the new wireless charging case ($199) or with the standard charging case ($159).
The new AirPods are available to order on apple.com now and will be available to purchase in stores from next week.
