The latest Mac update, Catalina, which launched yesterday (October 7) has phased out the 18-year-old music program, iTunes.
While it won’t be removed completely, iTunes will be hidden for Apple Music subscribers. So, if you’re missing iTunes after installing your update, you’ll have to restore it manually in settings.
iTunes has been officially replaced on the Mac by three new apps, Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Podcasts. Using the Apple Music app, users are still able to access their music library, restoring previously purchased tracks and albums from iTunes.
The iTunes store for movies and TV has been transferred into the new TV app, which features videos available for rent and purchase along with other shows and movies.
As of 1 November, the Apple TV app will include premiere contact from Apple’s new subscription service Apple TV+.
