One Arsenal player has got himself into some very hot water, as allegations are arising that he racially abused an airline staff member at Heathrow airport this week.
24 year old midfielder Granit Xhaka was interviewed under caution by police following the allegation, while his club have refused to comment on the matter.
The Swiss international was reportedly with a friend who was visiting him in London and had been dropped at the airport to fly back home. He was supposedly late for his flight and not allowed to board, which is where the abuse is purported to have started.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said, “Police were called at 19:29 GMT on Monday, 23 January following an allegation that a member of staff had been racially abused at Heathrow Airport, Terminal Five.
“The allegation was made by a third party. Officers attended and spoke with a man in his 20s. He was not arrested. He voluntarily attended a West London police station where he was interviewed under caution. Enquires continue.”
No details other than that have surfaced yet, but its not looking good for Xhaka, who just 24 hours prior had been sent off in Arsenal’s game against Burnley.
