Spotify’s billionaire founder Daniel Ek is reportedly working with three Arsenal legends to launch a potential bid to take over the club.
According to the Telegraph, the Swedish entrepreneur has “teamed up” with Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira in his efforts to take control of Arsenal, with it being reported that the three icons could be given roles at the club if the bid is successful.
The three former players have expressed interest in returning to the club in the past and Ek believes their experience and knowledge would be “invaluable” to his plans. An offer is expected to be made by Ek imminently.
News of the joint effort from Ek, Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira comes days after Ek publicly announced his desire to buy Arsenal.
“As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for Arsenal as long as I can remember,” he wrote on Twitter. “If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I’d be happy to throw my hat in the ring.”
Last week at a fans’ forum Arsenal’s director Josh Kroenke made it clear KSE have no intention of selling the club but could that change now an allegiance has formed between Ek, Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira? We’ll have to wait and see.
