Real 92.3’s Real Street Festival in Anaheim had a star-studded line up but the most anticipated act on the list was A$AP Rocky, as he still hadn’t performed since being released from jail in Sweden.
Rocky was released from jail on August 2 (ahead of his verdict) and he began his set from behind a white curtain, remaining shrouded as he performed “A$AP Forever” along with an acapella version of an unreleased song.
While dressed in his custom Testing-inspired suit, and surrounded by a masked mob in similar attire, Rocky clearly began shut the show down in good fashion. After performing a couple of tracks from his Testing album, A$AP Rocky brought out his old friend, Tyler The Creator, who was dressed stupendously, like your grandad would when golfing.
The duo performed two tracks, dubbed “Telephone Calls” and “Who Dat Boy” before A$AP accompanied Tyler during his IGOR, hit record, “EARFQUAKE”. After this, Rocky then paused to indulge in a sentimental moment.
Giving a speech to express his gratitude to be back, and for all those whom supported him when locked up, he said: “I just want to say, what I experienced was crazy. I’m so happy to be here y’all don’t understand… That was a scary, humbling experience, but I’m here right now.
“God is good… People who ain’t even f*ck with me felt sympathy for my situation… That uplifted me when my spirits was low. I can’t thank y’all enough.. hip-hop never looked so strong together. We’re a big, strong community.”
After his speech, and later on in the set, Rocky began his performance celebrations where he brought out more friends, such as A$AP Ferg and YG.
