Ashley Cole announces his retirement

Aged 38, Ashley Cole has announced his retirement from football.

The player made his professional debut in 1999 with Arsenal football club and since then; has played for Chelsea, Roma, Derby and LA Galaxy. Cole is the most awarded footballer in FA Cup history after achieving a record-breaking seven times over the course of his career. 

Ashley Cole is a double Premier League winner and following his retirement, will venture into a full-time coaching career.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ashley Cole said: “After hard thinking, it was time to hang up my boots and look towards my next chapter”.

On his career, he described it as “incredible” and added, “I’ve fulfilled my dream and now I look to the future to hopefully be a great coach.
