Following a 20 minute sneak preview on Soundcloud (which sent fans into a frenzy tweeting their favourite quotables), one of our 2015 #NextGen10 picks, Avelino, has dropped the first official track “M.O.E” (Money Over Everything) set for release on his forthcoming mixtape ‘FYO’.

Saluting the legend that is his close friend and mentor, Wretch 32, the cut begins and ends with a snippet from one of the most historic F64 freestyles of all time; Wretch’s 2009 Series 1 debut. Whilst Avelino is still a relatively new name to the scene his wordplay ability is second to none amongst the newcomers, with obvious inspiration hailing from his fellow Tottenham native.

Avelino explained to us that the sample was in fact Wretch’s idea, “Wretch is a great mentor for me and when he suggested I used his classic phrase I jumped at the chance, the song was half finished before this happened. I think it’s complete now”.

Av sets pace from the get go, opening up with the line “eyes squinting cos the future’s bright”, and we couldn’t agree more.

More info on the ‘FYO’ project coming soon.
