Kendrick Lamar has made his long-awaited return to music by collaborating with Baby Keem on “family ties”.
With Keem and Kendrick being blood cousins, “family ties” is a fitting title for this joint effort as the pair flex their musical talents as well as their chemistry.
The song begins with Baby Keem spitting passionately over a anthemic rap production, before Kendrick comes in halfway through with his braggadocious lyrics; beginning with “I’m smoking on your top 5 tonight”.
There’s a lot to unpack in the Dave Free-directed video which begin in the style of a moodboard, followed by scenes of Kendrick and Keem in a limousine with Normani.
Kendrick’s return to music comes after he announced his final album with Top Dawg Entertainment last week.
