It’s official: Sony has co-signed the third Bad Boys film, Bad Boys For Life, will hit theatres on the 17th January 2020.

When it comes to bringing back classics, fans are always skeptical to see if they will be successful or live up to the originals, but with Jerry Bruckheimer allegedly returning to produce,we’re sure we’re in safe hands. You’ll be pleased to know the film will see an onscreen feature with dynamic detective duo Mike Lowery (Will Smith) and Marcus Bennett (Martin Lawrence) once more too.

The development journey for this release hasn’t been easy, with various directors  dropping out the franchise. In the meanwhile, they’ve decided to create a Bad Boys spin off, LA’s Finest, featuring Gabriel Union and Jessica Alba, which is due to debut on American TV channel NBC.

The plot will allegedly consist of “Union reprising her role as Special Agent Syd Burnett, the sister of Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett, last seen taking down a Miami drug cartel in Bad Boys II”. The pilot picks up with Syd now working as an LAPD detective, when her new partner, Nancy McKenna played by Alba, discovers Syd’s unapologetic lifestyle may be masking a greater personal secret.”
