The recent emergence of drill music in London’s churches is explored in a new Boiler Room documentary called Ballys and Bibles.
Host Alhan Gençay visits SPAC Nation church events which aim to draw the youth into Christianity and off the roads using the familiar and popular sound of drill music. Alhan visits the church and interviews the Hope Dealers, the drill artists who are the face of SPAC Nation. He also drops in on the group in the studio as they record a religion-friendly remix to Headie One’s “Know Better”.
The documentary touches on the controversy surrounding the church and their motivations behind their flash of wealth centred movement.
