Barry Chuckle, one half of the comedy duo the Chuckle Brothers, has died at the age of 73.

The news was broken by Barry’s manager, Phil Dale, who said that the actor had died peacefully at his home.

“It is with great sadness that the family announce that Barry passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife Ann and all his family,”.

Dale also added “The family would like to express their thanks to the many people who have been fans of the Chuckle Brothers and they know that they will share in part the great, great loss they feel.”

Barry, whose real name is Barry Elliott, appeared on CBBC alongside his brother Paul in the ChuckleVision series between 1987 and 2009.

The duo also featured on Tinchy Styder’s 2014 hit “To Me, To You (Bruv)” which was a track paying homage to the legendary brothers.

Tinchy took to Twitter earlier today to pay tribute to Barry.

“Funny, Down to earth, super cool, talented, humble legend. Rest in peace Barry Chuckle!”, Tinchy wrote.

Speaking about the loss of his brother, Paul Chuckle has said “I’ve not just lost my brother, I’ve lost my theatrical partner of many, many years and my very best friend.”

The Chuckle Brothers returned to our TVs in June 2018 with their Channel 5 series, ‘Chuckle Time’, in which the pair react to funny videos sent in by members of the public. The 12-episode series is expected to end in September.
