Bashy confirms TV role for new US drama series #Crime

You may have noticed Bashy has been in the States for a minute now and just as we were starting to wonder if it was a permanent move, the reason for his 6 month vacay has finally been revealed. Ashley announced on his Instagram that he’s spent 4 of the 6 months in New York shooting a new drama series for US TV giant HBO called #Crime and landed the part from a “self-tape”. While we can only hope it’s half as good as Top Boy, we have to commend Bashy for conquering new territory and continuing to inspire. With no broadcast date confirmed as yet, we may be waiting a while to check out his new role but you know we’ll have the latest updates when it lands. Congrats Bashy!

I’ve been in America for the last 6 months. For 4 of those months I was in New York, shooting a TV series Drama with HBO called #Crime. Broadcast date:TBC. I kept quiet about it because I like to just put my head down, focus & do the work first. My agent called me in August to tell me I got the part whilst I was re watching “The Wire”, which was just nuts. Inspiration for Actors: I got offered the part from a “self-tape”, I can’t even front, I used to think “self tapes” were a waste of time, effort & “who gets cast from self tapes though…?”. Anyway, I actually did. So now I have a new found respect for them. So keep the faith & keep putting in the effort even on self-tapes because you never know who is watching. #Crime #HBO #AshleyThomas
