Bashy has released a powerful new video for “Made In Britain”, a track from his celebrated album Being Poor is Expensive.
The song features a special sample from his 97-year-old grandmother, Thelma Stanbury, who immigrated to the UK from Jamaica as part of the Windrush generation. The video, honouring Thelma’s legacy, follows him and a grandmother figure, played by Gaynair Thorpe, as they visit West London’s Pepper Pot Charity, which supports elderly members of the African, Caribbean, and BME communities. With a sample from Aswad’s “Back to Africa”, the track celebrates the resilience and cultural contributions of the Windrush generation and their descendants.
