The BBC have royally f-ed up with a series of posted and deleted tweets about black people and fried chicken.
In the first tweet from BBC Newsbeat, they titled the short video clip “Black People and Fried Chicken – is there any truth in it?”, with a video of short clips of opinions including a white female saying black girls eat chicken because it give them a big behind. Come on *eye roll*, during Black History Month too.

Thinking they could get out of it with a quick delete and repost, they tried to correct themselves with a second tweet which read “Black People like chicken more than others – myth or reality”. Nope, still kind of missing the point, BBC.

They seem to have finally got the point with their final attempt, “We’re talking about being black and British & the stereotypes you might face, like this one?”, finally cottoning on to the heavy stereotype they had just inadvertently promoted instead of questioned. They seem to think they had got away with it but not before the twittersphere had screenshot it over and over.

Twitter users have taken to tweeting their thoughts which drew attention to another short about swimming and being black. As this twitter user so rightly states, apparently the biggest discrimination you face being black and British, is that people think you eat chicken and can’t swim *eye roll to death*.
