Many said it would never happen… Many doubted its longevity… But last night ladies and gentleman, the times have officially changed, and the rise of grime is now making BBC prime time news.
Covering the success of the scene, and featuring GRM Daily’s very own Posty, the BBC looked at grime’s current prominence and how it has grown so much in popularity across the country. Lady Leshurr also features in the report, as she excellently gives a clear break down as to some of the reasons for grime’s emergence. You can even see some of the sick artwork we have in the GRM office in the report.
The homegrown scene has emerged without label backing, largely due to artist persistence and social media – and it is great to see the world now sitting up and take notice of this. With the success of the Rated Awards last night, all we can do is hope the rise continues.
