The BBC have released a new documentary tracking the origins of our beloved genre.
Grime has come incredibly far since its inception in the early 2000s. From the early pirate radio days to its resurgence in the last five years which saw the likes of Stormzy and Skepta reaching levels superstardom rarely met by grime artists previously, to Wiley being granted an MBE, the scene has come a long way. This transition of grime as a genre once shunned by the mainstream to now something being charted and documented on by the BBC proves the strength of authentic British underground music today.
