Millwall FC are a club rooted in football history for a number of reasons. Ordinarily though, being a family friendly haven is not one of them.
The club have a reputation for being pretty nuts, with a strong set of die hard fans with a reputation that precedes them. That hasn’t stopped them from picking up one of the most prestigious awards from the Football League though.
The South East London club scooped up the award for the “Family club of the year” from the EFL and it has left football fans across the country in awe.
Millwall chief executive, Steve Kavanagh, said, “When I first arrived at this club it was very quickly apparent just how much thought and hard work went into fan engagement and making the match day experience as good as it could possibly be for young supporters and their families.
“This club perhaps has to work harder than any other and it’s very pleasing for Millwall to have been recognised with what is a very distinguished award.”
While they have a long way to go yet, perhaps Millwall is beginning to put its murky reputation as a club behind them?
