The fourth instalment of the Best of Apple Music’s UK Rap playlist is here and this week we have new entries from the likes of WSTRN, Grizzy and more.
WSTRN – Round Here (Feat. Skrapz
Added to the playlist is WSTRN’s latest single “Round Here” which is taken from their brand-new mixtape ‘DOU3LE 3AK’ and features Ice City Boyz’ Skrapz. Compared to their breakout 2015 hit “In2”, “Round Here” is darker in tone and sees Louis Rei and Skrapz deliver some gritty lyrics while Haile provides the track with his slick vocals. Grizzy – Pioneers (Feat. Mayhem, Stickz & M Dargg)
Another new entry on the playlist comes from Grizzy and his big collaboration with Mayhem, Stickz and M Dargg entitled “Pioneers”. While drill has undoubtedly gained a lot of attention in recent times, “Pioneers” is a track for hardcore fans of the genre as Grizzy, Mayhem, Stickz and M Dargg were some of the first rappers to take on the sound. Check out the video for “Pioneers” right here, where the rappers can be seen bouncing out to the raw sound of the track in and around a warehouse.
Slowthai – Rainbow
Also making the playlist this week is Northampon’s Slowthai with his new single, “Rainbow”. Despite the colourful title of the song, “Rainbow” sees the rapper jump on an eerie Kwes Darko and JD Reid-produced instrumental to showcase his mic skills. With Halloween around the corner, the visuals for the track capture the darkness of the record and include scenes of Slowthai climbing out a grave and transforming into a werewolf. Asco – “Intro”
Asco recently made the playlist with “Pink Notes” and this week it’s joined by another tune from his mixtape – “Intro”. On the track, the Hackney rapper details life on the roads and delivers some sick flows to showcase his abilities on the mic. Loski – “Mad About Bars Freestyle” (With Mixtape Madness & Kenny Allstar”
Serving as the only freestyle on the playlist is Loski and his recent Mad About Bars session with Kenny Allstar. Loski is no stranger to shutting down freestyles and this is highlighted in the way the young artist delivers his raw and direct lyrics with ease. Kenny Allstar provides the rapper with two domineering instrumentals and Loski tackles both to unleash around five minutes of straightbars.
