Not only has Beyoncé taken the iconic role of Nala in the new Lion King live-action remake, but she has also taken the title of producer for the soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift.
The album – produced by Queen B – boasts A-list features from co-stars Pharrell and Childish Gambino to Tierra Whack, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy and Kendrick Lamar.
The full tracklist was revealed yesterday (July 16) with over half of the fourteen tracks featuring Beyoncé or related cuts including her own daughter, Blue Ivy.
When announcing the project last week Beyoncé explained how “each song was written to reflect the film’s storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation.”
She added, ‘it was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me’.
The album will be released this Friday 19th July and will be available on all streaming platforms.
