MTB’s Big Zuu has already had a strong 2016 and we’re only half way through the year! Emerging through impressive showings on Radar Radio, The Grime Show and 1Xtra, the West London MC has made a name for himself as a talented rapper, whos creative and inventive take on grime has been simply refreshing. Since his link up with Frostar on the “Flexing Freestyle“, the young artist has been relatively quiet, apart from a standout Warm Up Session in April but the silence has been broken with Big Zuu delivering the heat with a new offering entitled “Kaleidoscope”.
Letting loose over a thumping, almost futuristic beat [put together by Slem Dem’s JT The Goon], Big Zuu is in familiar territory, hitting double rhymes and cracking wordplay right out the box, “Man, I’ve been out here, like the side of faces. On the side of my face is a beard that makes them wanna hate man, man imma fight these racists!” There is no doubt the talent that Big Zuu has to offer and it’s with releases like this that show his potential. One thing that stands out about Zuu is his ability to fuse together a number of topics (“Kaleidoscope” touches on music, family, police) and turn them into a track which could potentially be commercial or mainstream. With 5 months of 2016 left, it would be good to see what he brings to the table next…
