Black Lives Matter protestors have chained themselves to tarmac on a main road leading into Heathrow airport this morning.
The small group caused a blockade, leading to mass travel disruption in and around the airport, resulting in a number of arrests. They released a banner containing the words “This Is A Crisis”, with several protesters chaining their arms together and laying on the floor.
Looking to create awareness, the group in attendance have called for nationwide shutdown in another protest strategy. This comes on the fifth anniversary of Mark Duggan’s death, which in turn sparked mass rioting in London and the UK back in 2011. There are also suggestions that the protest took place near Heathrow as a result of the Jimmy Mubenga’s death at the hands of G4S at the airport whilst being deported back in 2010.
The scene has now been cleared, and normal road service has resumed, but could we see more protest methods practised today? More are reportedly set to be staged this evening, so keep an eye out for more news on the site.
