The Black Lives Matter protests are far from over, with thousands of protesters gathering in the streets of Brighton yesterday to demand the immediate end to black oppression.
The protesters – dressed in black, holding up signs asking for change within the systemic and racially prejudice legal system – gathered at the iconic Palace pier at midday on Saturday.
The protest was well organised with a set out route through the city, with many taking the safety precautions of wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and many of their masks stating either “Defund the police” or “Decolonize everything”.
These protests around the world were sparked by the unjust killing of George Floyd by the Minneapolis police department and now with more than 60 countries worldwide protesting for a common goal, there is hope for change.
